Steering Guards

Our SHADOW range of steering guards cover Defender, Discovery 1 and 2 and Classic Range Rover vehicles.

Some of our guard designs do not include the holes which are found in many guards, and some do. This is a matter of preference for some. But experience over the years has led us to believe that they are not necessary. Guards with holes can act like cheese-graters as they slide along the mud, and simply fill up. They can also trap sticks and stones and can be prone to snagging on rocks and logs. Some manufacturers claim that the holes aid cooling, but we have never experienced any cooling problems even on V8's. It may also be worth remembering that genuine Land Rover guards have never had holes in them. But many people prefer the look of guards with holes, so our range includes a choice of both.

Please be aware before ordering, that galvanizing is an 'industrial' finish. The nature of the process can sometimes produce a random surface finish and, as the galvanizing is carried out a a commercial Galvanizing Plant, we have no direct control of the process, therefore galvanized products cannot be considered for return or refund for issues concerning the appearance of the surface finish, as the British Standard to which they are galvanized favours rust prevention properties over surface appearance .
